This week...

2/5/10, 5p.m.: Spring Trip to Omaha, NE Deposit ($75) due to Economics Department Secretary’s Office.

OMAHA 2010

Hello all Econ Club members!

The Officer Team welcomes you to join us on our venture to Omaha, NE February 26th-28th.  Come and experience a wonderful learning opportunity and get to know some of your fellow students.

We will visit different types of businesses ranging from marketing, risk, finance, public relations, construction management, etc.  We'll also visit the Funny Bone Comedy Club!

Hurry up and place your NONREFUNDABLE deposit of $75 (at the main office of the Economics Department in Scobey Hall).  The last day to do so is Friday, February 5th.  A final payment of $75 is due by February 12th.  The cost of the trip includes transportation, hotel, business meetings and the comedy club.

In order to attend the trip, you must be an “official” member of the Econ Club.  In order to become an official member, you must pay club dues of $20.  If you paid club dues last semester, you do not need to do so again this semester, because club dues cover the entire academic year.  Please note that this trip is a not-for-profit event, so any money that remains after we pay all of the trip expenses will be returned to you at the beginning of the trip.

If you have any questions about the trip, please feel free to contact me at ajanderson1815@jacks.sdstate.edu.

I hope to see you there!

Thank you,

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join the Club?

Join the Economics Club for opportunities to get involved on campus, to meet your fellow students and potential employers, and to find out about specific industries, local jobs, and internships.

In particular, the Club offers you the opportunity to network, in casual social settings, with students who share your academic and/or professional interests.  Every year the Club visits at least one major U.S. city; past destinations include Chicago, Denver, Des Moines, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York, Omaha, St. Louis, and Winnipeg.  This fall the Club heads for Las Vegas, NV.  If you wish to learn more about this trip, please click here

The Club also puts together a Senior Brochure, which we distribute to potential employers.  If you wish to learn more about the Brochure, please click here.

What does it cost to join the Club?

Club dues are $20.  You may drop off your payment in cash or check (made payable to the SDSU Economics Club) at the Economics Department main office in Scobey Hall.  You can also hand your payment to our Treasurer, Heather Turnis, at the monthly Club meeting.

How can I get involved in the Club?

Attend our monthly meetings, which we advertise around campus, and join the Club listserv to receive Club-related news and information about upcoming events.  (If you would like us to add you to, or remove you from, our listserv, please email Dr. Carol Cumber.)  At each meeting, we host a guest speaker (usually from a local business) to share her/his incites into their industry, current responsibilities, career path, and job and internship opportunities available for economics majors.  We also share information about upcoming social events and meetings, award door prizes, and provide (free!) food.
